It was a pleasure to attend the 2015 Sports Without Borders Conference held in Moonee Ponds in Melbourne.

The conference program centered around changing the way sport is run to be more inclusive and to break down social boundaries. revolutioniseSPORT Managing Director Alex Mednis delivered a session in the conference program titled "Developing a Digital Strategy: Real-world uses for social media" - and spoke to the power of social media being a way to connect the fabric of a sporting community together.

revolutioniseSPORT was also delighted to be part of a special exhibition this year, called the "Sports Technology Expo", which brought together technology providers working in the sporting sector who had a role to play in facilitating diversity. revolutioniseSPORT was delighted to meet local councils and multicultural groups who were keen to use our platform to connect their communities together - and with a diverse array of sporting features in the revolutioniseSPORT platform - it is just as suitable for community and non-profit clubs to manage their memberships, events, and website as it is for sports.

Key takeaways from the conference included:

  • How to get more people involved in your club
  • How to foster an ethical and inclusive framework without compromising a winning spirit
  • Meet people who care about what you care about
  • Get inspiration for the year ahead
  • How to use social media to recruit and retain players and supporters
  • How to raise money without burning out your members
