This school holiday course is a Discover Sailing Level 1 course. It assume no prior sailing knowledge or experience. We have at least two Qualified Instructors who have been trained in sailing, as well as being trained through the Y's safeguarding program. 

Students who complete this course will be one step into the journey of sailing. The course aims to introduce participants to sailing, and to gain a basic understanding of how a boat works and some basic techniques. Students will learn how to tack, how to capsize and different points of sail. We will also play games and activites with the skills that are learnt throughout the course.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
