Course information
Participants must be at least 15 years old. Participants under 16 will be required to resit their test and pass an on-water competency assessment when they turn 16 to complete the course.
Successful students can obtain a NSW Powerboat License by presenting their Australian Sailing Powerboat Handling Certificate to Queanbeyan Service Centre (and paying the fee!)
The course fee is $180.
Course Overview
This one-day course is designed to improve your boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as marinas and in swell and waves. You will learn more about engines and types of crafts and practise navigation techniques on a passage. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident. The skills and knowledge gained in Start Powerboating or equivalent power boating experience.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to further develop their powerboat driving skills. This course is also a prerequisite for becoming a Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Powerboat Handling completion certificate.
