Volunteer Marine Rescue

Wynyard Marine Rescue is a volunteer sea rescue unit based at the Wynyard Yacht. The unit has been operating since 2015 and currently operates three vessels. We are self-funded through Surf Lifesaving Tasmania and Wynyard Yacht Club and rely on grants, community support, and donations.

We provide daylight rescue services over an extensive area from Burnie to Stanley - mainly between Doctors Rocks and Table Cape. The majority of our missions are supporting NW sailing and canoeing activities - predominantly weekend sailing. We do a number of rescues each year that are mainly offshore missions in aid of vessels in distress.

We currently have twelve members who respond to callouts and attend regular training sessions.  Through SLST we provide training to our members to the level of Restricted Coxswain.
