Program information

This program has passed.

Many of the participants in the Silver Salties events such as Walk & Talk, and Chair Aerobics were keen to become involved in assisting the surf club activities in a support role. The surf club's primary role is a part of the NSW Emergency Services responsible for the safety of Woolgoolga beachgoers.. By undertaking the nonpatrol the volunteers allow the active club members to concentrate on their primary role.  During 2021-2022 over 90 participants enrolled in the various Silver Salties events and most events attracted over 20 in each group, many doing both Walk Talk Stretching plus the challenging Chair Aerobics using resistance bands and mini weights. During 2022, a new Catching Waves event was established once per week helped by the Boaties group providing water safety, at weekends Silver Salties formed rosters to provide the Nippers with BBQ, freeing parents up to join their children on the beach. When the senior club and Boaties host a surf carnival at our beach, the volunteers are there to help.

When volunteers enroll they are invited to nominate times to join rosters for BBQ's and once enrolled they are covered under the SLSA insurance coverage while acting as volunteers. Silver Salties events are generally free.

Silver salties enrolment forms and waivers can be downloaded from the Silver Salties Woopi Facebook page or by email to silversaltieswoopi@gmail.com for forms to be sent out. Phone inquiries to Colin Morley 0419715730
