Bluewater solo sailor visiting WMYC during her world circumnavigation
Elana Connor and her dog Zia are sailing on a mission: “… spreading empathy, raising global awareness about youth in foster care, and creating a compelling story and a light for other former foster youth and the communities that support them”.
Elana and Zia sailed from California to Australia, via New Zealand, in her sloop, Windfola, a 1985 Sabre 34. When in New Zealand. their planned circumnavigation was interrupted by COVID, so, she did a figure eight around New Zealand.
WIndfola was berthed at WMYC for a three days and Elana shared her story at WMYC “Telltales” presentation.
She is also provided a learning opportunity for sailors, "Intro to Inboard Diesel Engine Collaborative Workshop"
Two groups of 8 ( all women as it happens ) had a very valuable learning experience. The feedback was extrordinarily positive
