NorthTec Sprint
Registration from 10am, Starts from 10.30am
Course Closure 12.30pm
This is a "sprint" map, but you can move at any speed from walking to "sprinting"
Sprint orienteering is typically in urban environments like schools or city parks. Generally the navigation is simpler and the terrain easier to cross than farm or forest maps and the courses tend to be shorter, which can make the 'sprint" fast with shorter finish times. In competitive sprints, the lead runners are making route choice decisions very quickly. There can be a lot of controls close together from many different courses. To finish well it is important to know where you are by keeping close contact to the map. Sprint orienteering maps have their own mapping standards, with some colours and symbols specific to this type of map.
We will be using the sport ident timing system. Sport ident hire is included in the registration fee. You can discount your fee if you are using your own SI card and enter the SI number into the registration form.
There are 2 maps today of equal difficulty, Map A and Map B. We will automatically register you for both maps but you can choose on the day whether to run either one or both maps.
Our thanks to the landowners for allowing us on their land. Please respect the property. As the saying goes.... Take only memories and leave only footprints
Register online and pay by bank deposit. You can run this map in teams and if you do then it is important that you record the names of all team members. However, with sprint maps we recommend everyone to have their own map and Sport ident - even if you run together.
Registering online will help us ensure we print enough maps and will make it easier to set up the electronic timing system in advance.
