17 boats represented WYC in this year's Western Port Challenge hosted by Somers YC.  With excellent conditions for fast sailing, it was a quick race.

Our youth team of Vincent Cross & Will Fleming (Hobie 16), James Fleming (Laser Radial), Leigh Harvie (Optimist) and Eleonore Rich (Laser 4.7) managed to retain the YoungerSet title.  Vincent & Will finished 6th overall to be our best performed crew, with James finishing 21st.  Our challenge for next year is to build the skills of our younger sailors to build a team around Leigh, as the rest of our team have sailed for their last time in this event as 'YoungerSet'.

Colin Franke was our other top 20 finisher in his Impulse.

In the end, in the fleet of 82 it was the consistency of performance across the WYC fleet that put us in front of Cowes and Merricks.  Only 4 boats failed to finish which meant the 13 results that counted forWYC were all boats that finished and none of these were lower ranked than 60th (well done Scott Brandon!).
