Spring Series 4, 5 & 6

Published Sun 13 Nov 2016

With a strong wind warning on Port Phillip and morning coaching cancelled due to blustery northerlies, it appears many regulars decided to stay at home this weekend.  For those who ventured down to the club it turned out to be a rewarding experience.

The Bureau got it pretty much right as the northerly died down in the afternoon and tried to swing to the south west.  This made it challenging for race management but we ended up having a race rounding the marks to port, the same course but with starboard roundings as the wind went west and the final race ended up as a sprint after the competitors worked out where they were actually meant to be sailing!

The dolphins were also in a playful mood, launching out of the water on occasion as they raced the catamarans.

As far as the racing went, Steve Cross and Lynn Dugay had a good tussle with Andrew Hill and Nicholas Jurovic until Steve's tiller bar detached in the second race (sabotage? did anyone borrow a spring clip from the Nacra and not replace it?) and Lynn put his posterior through the sail in the ensuing capsize which finished their fun for the day.
