Undeterred by the glassy water, 5 boats rigged ready for the final race of the summer season. The course took crews out through the reef, down to Merricks and back across to Somers before returning to Balnarring.
Frank Jurovic and Tracey Swadling safely navigated a club Pacer around the course to take out the Division 3 competition
In the catamarans it was the race of the flag officers with Commodore Adam Smith teaming up with Lynn Dugay on the Hobie 16, Vice Commodore Steve Cross and wife Theodora on the Nacra 5.8 and Rear Commodore Andrew Hill with Nicholas Jurovic on the Taipan 4.9. They were joined by Hobie 16 novices Lucy and Alistair Gray.
The first hour of the race was a frustrating battle against the tide in very light winds but once the breeze kicked in from the south-east the cats got going with the occassional opportunity to get out on trapeze.
Thanks very mich to the safety boat crews and in particular Sailing Officer Xavier Vandame for running the race and getting some great photos. See them all in the club gallery.
