As announced this week, Westernport Yacht Club, in partnership with Peninsula Songriders, has been awarded a significant grant to assist in re-establishing a bigger and better than ever live music program at the club. The funds are specifically earmarked for:
- Facility improvements: acoustic window coverings, balcony windscreens and stage lighting
- Live streaming equipment that will allow gigs to be broadcast
- Artist guarantee fund: allowing us to secure more and higher profile artists
- Marketing equipment and support: allowing us to maximise audiences.
The events arranged with Peninsula Songriders over previous years, monthly before the pandemic, have attracted audiences of visitors and locals who otherwise would not have come to appreciate what our club has to offer. This has resulted in the acquisition of many new members, some of who have subsequently got involved in on-water activities through the club.
The usual arrangement for Peninsula Songriders events is that profits made from bar sales and food sales all go back to the club, and this has lifted club revenue by many thousands of dollars each year. This all relies on the club providing a few volunteers to run the bar and kitchen. Once density limits are lifted, we now have the opportunity to attract bigger crowds more regularly, which should increase club revenue even further, so please put your hand up to help out when you are able - especially if you love live music!
