Last year's club champion Col Franke has picked up where he left off to take out the first heat of this season's Commodore's Cup series.

With south-easterly winds averaging 15 knots, race-officer Bruce Douglas set a big course that took competitors outside the reef.  

Behind Colin, the race for second could not have been closer with Martin Corcoran edging out Glen Douglas by just one second on corrected time.  Vincent Cross and Will Fleming had a capsize on the third triangle that possibly cost them a win.
