Announcing MASTERS ON WESTERN PORT

Published Sun 26 May 2019

Yachting Western Port has endorsed the inaugural Masters on Western Port Regatta - to be hosted at WYC on October 19th and 20th 2019.

The objective of the Masters on Western Port event is to encourage the maintenance of active and healthy lifestyles for people around Western Port, many of whom are in the second half of their lives, and to encourage experienced sailors around Western Port to introduce the sport of Sailing and Yacht Club life to another generation.  We envisage a unique, two-day event involving multi-class fleet racing and incorporating a specific race that will be open to 2-handed boats with skipper and crew representing different generations of one family.

Masters on Western Port will replace the Montalto Women on Water Regatta as WYC's marquee event for the coming sailing season.  While we envisage a slightly simpler regatta than WoW, we will be able to draw on all the experience we have built on over 5 years of running WoW.

Our first steps involve the creation of the event organising committee.  Vice Commodore Adam H Smith will fill the role of Event Manager and we now need volunteers for the following positions on his committee:

  • Catering Coordinator
  • Breakfast Coordinator
  • Lunch Coordinator
  • Dinner Coordinator
  • Club Opening Coordinator
  • Facilities Manager
  • Launch & Retrieval Coordinator
  • Power Boat Coordinator
  • Presentation Coordinator
  • Publicity Coordinator
  • Registrations Manager
  • Sailing Coordinator
  • Sponsorship Coordinator
  • Volunteer Roster Manager

If you are interested in taking on one or mole of these roles, please contact Adam to obtain a copy of the role description.

Let's once again show the sailing world that the best and friendliest regattas happen on Western Port!
