Alisanne Boag, a Hobie 14 sailor from Elwood SC, is this year's Montalto Women on Water trophy winner.
The winner of the trophy had to finish in the top 5 of their class and demonstrate the qualities of determination, sportsmanship, enthusiasm and passion throughout the weekend, both on and off the water. Alisanne was always eager to learn and always had a smile on her face. Coach Suzie Ghent said she was a delight to coach and was determined to improve over the weekend.
Our youth trophy winner, WYC's Eve Wheeler, showed outstanding determination and enthusiasm. Braving the blustery conditions on Sunday morning with her mum Lesley, the novice sailor got quite a scare when her mum was hit by the boom. After accompanying mum back to the beach (where Lesley was well cared for by regatta medical officer Joyce Bursa and visiting offical Dr Amanda Nutting), Eve composed herself and went back out on the water with the coaches with a smile on her face. Her coach Izzy Leahy said she was so keen to learn and participate that she jumped at the chance to go for a sail with Krystal Weir later in the afternoon (what better way to get comfortable on the water again?)
Most Improved Open Sailor was Beaumaris YC Sabre sailor Silke Weber
Shelby Bassett was awarded the Most Improved Junior trophy.
