After much reflection, I have decided not to seek re-election as President of Wenty Leagues Squash Club at the upcoming AGM on 2 June 2025. Serving as both Vice President and President over the past five years has been an incredible time, filled with great experiences, personal growth, and the privilege of working with an amazing committee & it's members.
It has been an honour to serve a club that has meant so much to me, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. From hosting AGMs, End-of-Year Celebrations, Rules Nights, running Coaching Clinics, and organizing Social Events, CPR Courses & Inter-Club Challenges and helping grow our online presence through RevSPORT and WhatsApp groups, every initiative was aimed at strengthening our club and creating a welcoming environment for all members.
One of my proudest moments was being part of WLSC’s major event of the decade – our 60th Anniversary Celebration Dinner in 2024. Connecting with so many past and present members, as well as working with former World Number 1 squash player Geoff Hunt, was a truly memorable experience. Another highlight was producing the “Rob Spooner's 60+ Years of Squash” video in 2022 paying tribute to one of WLSC's many legendary members & leaders.
My sole intention as President has always been to bring members closer together and ensure everyone feels part of something special. Wenty Leagues Squash Club is more than just a place to play squash - it is a community built on friendships, shared passion to play squash, and the support of a fantastic parent club in Wenty Leagues.
I want to extend my thanks to the Committee for their dedication and to all members for their support, participation, and enthusiasm over the years. Whether it was competing in Pennant, attending social events and meetings, or just having a casual hit on the courts, your involvement is what makes this club great.
As I step down, I have no doubt that the club will continue to thrive under new leadership. I encourage everyone to keep supporting the club, to ensure WLSC remains strong for another 60 years, allowing future generations to enjoy playing squash with such a fantastic club.
