Player's Conduct

Player's Conduct Policy

As part of our commitment to maintaining a respectful and enjoyable environment at Wenty Leagues Squash Club, we are addressing the issue of player's conduct with a renewed focus. This follows discussions within the committee and feedback from our members.

On 7 November 2024, Vice President Rob Spooner issued a formal letter to all members outlining the club's position on unsportsmanlike behavior. The letter emphasized the importance of upholding the core values of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play that our club has long prided itself on. It also provided clear examples of behavior that would not be tolerated, including but not limited to:

  • Disrespectful language or gestures toward opponents, officials, or spectators.
  • Deliberate rule violations or attempts to disrupt the fairness of matches.
  • Intimidating or aggressive behavior on or off the court.

Key Points of the Policy:

  1. Zero Tolerance for Unsportsmanlike Conduct:

    • Any behavior deemed unsportsmanlike will be reviewed promptly by the committee.
    • Sanctions may include warnings, match forfeiture, or suspension of playing privileges.
  2. Reporting Mechanism:

    • Members are encouraged to report any incidents they witness to a committee member as soon as possible, providing details of the event.
  3. Member Responsibility:

    • All members are expected to adhere to the club's Code of Conduct, available on the club website.
    • Unsportsmanlike conduct by members reflects not only on individuals but also on the reputation of the entire club.
  4. Ongoing Education:

    • The club will conduct periodic sessions, such as Rules Nights and workshops, to promote awareness of fair play and acceptable behavior standards.

We urge all members to familiarize themselves with the contents of the 7 November 2024 letter from Vice President Rob Spooner, which provides further context and expectations. A copy of the letter can be accessed [here] (insert link if available) or by contacting the committee.
