THE WLSC TRADITION CONTINUES…

The Club Championships will be run from 5th – 26th February.

The Club Championships are not only excellent preparation for the Autumn Pennant competition but also a fantastic opportunity to compete with fellow club members. Plus, Club Championship Finals Night is always a standout evening with thrilling matches, followed by a free supper and drinks.

Who can forget last year’s Club Championship Finals Night?

• The 2024 event kept everyone on edge, with 4 of the 7 finals going to five sets. In a true crowd-pleaser, Gergis fought off first-time nerves to clinch victory in a five-set thriller against the seasoned Blazquez in Division 5, while Amer’s impressive court coverage (the “Lyndal Shuffle”) nearly took down Aviet’s powerful play in Division 2. 
• Rising star Bratton, fresh from Coaching Clinic 3.0, stunned fans with her precision in defeating veteran Rob Spooner and she credited her coaching clinic training for her performance. 
• The expected fireworks between bitter rivals Taylor & De Luca in Division 3 never eventuated. Experienced umpire Bernie Worsley was flown in especially to control the match, and he did an excellent job, only falling asleep twice during the match.
• Many in the crowd openly admitted they were only there for the FREE pizza & beer but we don’t care why they attend, we only care that they do

Entry is FREE for all current members, but you must have played in either Autumn or Spring Pennant in 2024 to be eligible. This year’s format allows players to compete in their division plus one division above, ensuring players get the chance to challenge stronger opponents. With six divisions total, this structure boosts participation and guarantees everyone plenty of court time.

So, let us know if you’d like to play in your division only or both yours and the division above upon the registration process. Please note, placement will be based on your Sporty HQ rating, which may differ from last year.
