2021 Australian Indoor Rowing Championships

Published Fri 05 Nov 2021

Saturday 30 October a small team of Wentworth Rowers competed in the Australian Indoor Rowing Championships….virtually!  There were close to 800 entrants from all over the world including Egypt, Italy, USA and NZ.

Geoff Rix, Flo Howard and Chrisso Boseley all took on the challenge, which included a few months of training in the lead up.

With ergs connected to cords which were connected to laptops, which was connected to an internet device which was connected to a TV which was operated by Head Coach Bec Marshall, the team arrived at the sheds on Saturday wearing the Wenty colours and ready to race.

Flo competed in the 2000m race and not only achieved a personal best also won a gold medal, coming first in Australia in her age group – super effort!

Geoff competed in the 1000m, and was super competitive in his age group and achieved a personal best.

Flo backed up her first win of the day with a second win in the 1000m and made it look easy. She again achieved a PB and gold medal for her age group. Chrisso also competed in the 1000m and won a bronze medal for her age group!

Geoff and Chrisso, finished the day competing in the 500m sprint and what a mighty effort they put in, again achieving PB’s and their own personal goals.

It was a super day and was able to give us that “competitive” feeling we have been missing for so long due to Covid.

Look out 2022, Wentworth will be on the blocks again, ready to race!
