The DA Gippsland Waratahs are a registered Dragons Abreast Team, which encourages involvement and support of people who have experienced breast cancer. But we are also a club which encourages and fosters the sport of dragon boat paddling for everyone. Members, both men and women, between the ages of ten and ninety are welcome. Age and physical fitness are no barriers to participating in our club.
We encourage all people to feel included in the Club. Some members are keen to compete and train hard to paddle at various regattas, both in Victoria, interstate and overseas. Others want to enjoy the feeling of belonging to a team and to keep fit in a supportive and fun environment.
We paddle on the Mitchell River from the Howitt Park Boat Ramp, Bairnsdale, Sunday mornings from 9.30 am. During daylight saving we also hold a Wednesday afternoon paddle from 5.30 pm and non-daylight savings Thursday's from 2.30pm. Once a month we travel for a paddle on one of our other fantastic waterways, including the Tambo and Nicholson rivers and our glorious lakes.
We provide equipment, which includes paddles and life jackets, and you are welcome to “Come and Try” free for one month before becoming a member.
