We are trialling a change to the format of the Monday in-house. The next 9 weeks will be a Box Leage format.
What is a Box League?
Players are grouped into ‘boxes’ or divisions based on their skill levels. Over a set period, in this instance, 3 weeks, each player competes against every other player in their box. At the end of this period, players are promoted or relegated based on their performance, ensuring they always play against similarly skilled opponents.
How will the Box League Work?
- Formation of Boxes: Players will be divided into boxes of 4 players based on their skill level. Within the 3 weeks, you will play all the players in your box.
- Promotion and Relegation: At the end of the 3 week period, the top players in each box are promoted to a higher box, and the bottom players are relegated to a lower box. In the Spring season, there will be 9 weeks therefore 2 relegations.
- Match Scheduling: Competition commences 6pm on Monday night. Once your opponent is there, put your names down on the schedule for each court (first in best dressed!)
- Scoring and Ranking: Matches will still be recorded on Sporty HQ or Revo. Matches will be Best of 5 games; point a rally to 11 win by 2. Nothing has changed in the scoring. Players earn points based on match results. Points are typically awarded for wins, with additional points for games won.
