1. Membership Registrations
A reminder that VKR Membership payments for 2022-23 are now due.
Please contact your Club secretary for details regarding the registration process.
Note: Candidates for July Gradings must be a VKR member as of 15 June 2022 in order to be eligible.
2. Club-based Kendo Grading
Various VKR Clubs are conducting Club-based Kendo Grading Examinations for 6-4 Kyu during July (see schedule below).
Members should contact their Club secretary regarding details for the Grading application process.

3. VKR July Grading (Kendo, Iaido and Jodo)
The VKR will hold the following grading examinations on Sunday 24 July at the Kenshikan:
- Kendo (3rd to 1st Kyu) (12.30pm Registration, 1pm Grading)
- Iaido/Jodo (Kyu grades) (3pm Registration, 3.30pm Grading)
Application process and timelines will be sent out soon.
Note: All grading candidates must be a VKR member as of 15 June 2022 in order to be eligible.
4. State Kendo Coach
A reminder that applications for the VKR State Kendo Coach are due Sunday 19 June 2022.

5. Nanseikan Kangeigko
A reminder regarding the Nanseikan Kangeiko:
- 25-26 June 2022
- 9am Saturday to 3pm Sunday
- Nanseikan Dojo, 419 Waterdale Rd, Heidelberg West
To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are restarting our tradition of mid-winter training or KANGEIKO
This time however, it’s not one day but two!
There will be a dinner celebration on Saturday night and then those who wish can sleep at the dojo.

6. 30th Australian Iaido Championships, Seminar and Dan Grade Exam (2022)
The 30th Australian Iaido Championships will be held in Queensland from 30 July to 1 August 2022.

7. 2022 UniSport Nationals – VKR Subsidy for Competitors and Coaches
Competition Information
The 2022 UniSport Nationals will be held in Perth, Western Australia. The Kendo competition will run from 23-25 September.

University students should contact their respective University for details.
VKR Subsidy
The VKR State Council recently approved a VKR subsidy for competitors and coaches travelling to the UniSport Nationals in Perth.
A subsidy of $100 per person up to a maximum of $500 per club. The subsidy would be provided following the event, subject to the following evidence/conditions:
- The competitor/coach must be a VKR Member for the 2022-23 Membership Year;
- Following the event, the Club must submit to the VKR relevant receipts demonstrating that the member has paid for airfares, accommodation or event registration fees; and
- The Club must submit relevant event documentation that the member attended in capacity as either a competitor or event official.
