Event information

Late registrations for this event are closed.

UWA Judo Club is pleased to announce its high grades competition, the first of it's kind in WA.

This event is open to all JudoWA registered members, senior blue belt and above, to assist in gaining valuable grading points for the JA competition pathway.

We recognise that many WA players need to travel interstate or overseas to gain valuable points towards the competition grading pathway, and as you progress through your dan grades, the opportunity to fight for points becomes harder.

Come along to our high grades comp and we will try our best to create divisions where if you win, you will be assured grading points.

The important stuff:

- All brackets will be round robin to ensure a maximum number of fights.

- All participants must weigh in on the day to verify your weight registered in your entry.

- To ensure a maximum number of fights, you will NOT be fighting in the usual IJF weight brackets. Catch weight brackets will be created within 10% of your registered weight. If your bracket includes an outlier (someone more than 10% of your weight), all affected players will be contacted for their consent.

- There will be no spectators at this event. Only competitors, coaches and officials are permitted to attend. Please do not bring team mates or family members as they will not be allowed into the venue.

- There will not be medals at this event. It is purely a grading tournament where we facilitate the opportunity for higher grade judoka to gain grading points. It will not be fancy;  2 mats, referees, a handwritten draw sheet and old fashioned timer scoreboards.

- In lieu of medals, we will provide some drinks and nibbles for participants who may wish to socialise and share some camaraderie after the event.

- Please note, veteran grading points cannot be gained at this competition. Veteran grading points can only be gained at international open level competitions and above. Veterans are warmly welcome, and encouraged to compete as a senior.
