How long has it been since you've dived Cook Island?  For me it's been a while, so I thought I'd organise a trip before the water gets too cold.  (and let's hope there are no COVID shutdown this time)

Cook Island has many different dive sites around it, including: North Wall, Turtle Nursery, Mary's Rock, Fido's Reef, Coral Gardens (Southside Wall), Bullseye Alley.  If conditions are favorable, we could get to Nine Mile Reef, Pinnacles (32 metres), Mary's Rock (18 metres), Boulders (35 metres), or Alberta Wreck (12 metres).  Our options are varied, weather permitting.

We will be diving with Tweed Gold Coast Dive Charters who have a good reputation around the traps.

Dates: Saturday 15th May & Sunday 16th May

Accommodation:  DIY accommodation, or just come down for the day (either Saturday, or Sunday, or both)

  • Some of us still have a deposit with Tweed Holiday Park, Fingal Head which we had booked pre-COVID, so my thought was to head down to Fingal head on Friday afternoon/evening and stay at the Caravan park until Sunday afternoon (which would mean booking for 3 days, but would give us the flexibility to leave either later on Sunday after diving, or even Monday morning). 15 min to the Dry Dock Boat Ramp, Tweed Heads
  • Tweed Holiday Park, Tweed Heads is even closer, 2 minutes drive to the launch point

Airfills:  If you are diving both days, you will need your tanks filled.  We will take down the compressor and fill the tanks on Saturday afternoon (at the boat ramp).  You will need to bring your Airfill card (you can purchase an Airfill card at the bar at the clubhouse: 10 fills for $75), or $10/fill on the day.

Cost: $99 for a double-dive.  If we fill the boat (ie 12 people), we get 2 people free, so it would work out as $82.50 per person (TBC), plus Air Fills.

Let's go diving!
