Lets go diving!
Cementco
The Cementco was a 67 metre long hopper barge that worked in Brisbane’s Moreton Bay for many years transporting fossilised coral to be used in cement production. In 1985 the retired ship was to be scuttled off Moreton Island as an artificial reef when it prematurely sank in rough weather, landing on the sea floor upside down in 25 metres of water.
Flinders Reef
Flinders Reef has an amazing diversity of fish and marine creatures including more than 175 species of fish, many species of Turtles and in the winter months, the migrating Whales. Flinders reef also has many pinnacles, swim throughs, ledges and even a sunken trawler.
Backup plan for bad swell;
Group A - Drift dive on The Pines (incomming)
Group B - Dive North Curtin just before/on slack tide (incomming)
Group A - Dive South Curtin just on/after slack tide (outgoing)
Group B - Drift dive on The Pines (outgoing)
As we'll be doing drift dives you must have a Surface Marker you can deploy at the end of your dives.
I would also highly recommend a Torch and a Knife for Curtin. There is often fishing line you may need to cut away and a torch is good for looking into the Wrecks.
