Hi all,
Following the rather eventful (and cold) first clean-up trip to Moreton, we are organising another clean-up to trip Moreton Island on Friday 4 November - Monday 7 November.
The Curtin Artificial Reef was in a surprisingly clean condition - but when the weather gets warmer and more fishermen will travel to the artificial reef, there will be more debris for us to collect.
The plan is to take the 8:30am ferry to Moreton Island on Friday 4 November and return to Brisbane on the 11am ferry on Monday 7 November.
However, if these times don't suit you, also the following ferry options are available:
Ferry to Moreton Island:
-Friday 4 November at 1pm
-Saturday 5 November at 8:30am
Ferry to return to Brisbane:
-Sunday 6 November at 10:15am or 2:30pm or 6:30pm
-Monday 7 November 3:30pm
You can also travel to / from Moreton on Diver 1 - but if you choose to do this, YOU MUST TRAVEL BOTH WAYS ON DIVER 1 as it will most likely launch from Scarborough, NOT from Port of Brisbane.
When registering to this event, PLEASE let us know which ferries you will be taking as the houses will be booked based on this information. Please note that the check out time is 10am for all houses - so if you choose to take the afternoon ferry on Monday 7 November, you could end up spending the day at Tangalooma (unless we manage to extend the check out time).
There are 23 spots in total available for this trip.
For this trip, we need the following:
-someone to drive Diver 1 to Moreton on Friday 4 November and back to Brisbane on Monday 7 November (or on Sunday 6 November if Monday isn't possible)
-someone who can tow the club trailer with the portable compressor & tanks/fuel/dive gear
-boat drivers and surface watchers
-divers to dive and clean up the wrecks at Curtin Artificial Reef
The plan is to take 3 cars (including 1 with the club trailer) to Moreton.
The cost will be $150 pp + 1 dive ticket per dive.
Please let us know by 8 July THE LATEST if you will be participating this event / if you are able to help with the logistics so that we can book the houses & ferries / organise beach permits etc.
