Whitsundays Liveaboard!!

 

Trip Overview

·         6d/5n on Kiana diving the Whitsundays (out of Airlie Beach)

·         https://www.mskiana.com

·         8 PAX Max

·         Trip cost approx. $2,600 pp Includes first night on board before departure) – Note 4am departure

 

The Vessel

·         MS Kiana, a 16.5m cutter rigged ketch that was launched in 1990, purpose built as a charter sail and dive vessel.

·         The reefs we are likely to dive include Bait Reef, Kennedy Reef, Wansfell Reef, Seagull Reef, and weather dependent, Elizabeth Reef, on the outer continental shelf.

 

Itinerary

·         Fly up Thurs 3 Mar - stay onboard that night (cost $100 pp accom for that night. Just accom, no meal, pub across road)

·         Depart Frid 4 Mar at 0400 (yes early start to get out there and do a few dives)

·         Return Wed 9 Mar at 1700 - O/N acom needed in Airlie as too late for any flights out of Proserpine

·         Cheapest Flights seen are:

  1.  $99 pp each way on Virgin
  2.  $162 each way on Qantas

 

 

Other info

·         Limit showers to 2 min each per day as limited fresh water on board

·         Fully licenced $5 a beer and $6 wine

·         Small yacht so limited room onboard - No hard bags and leave dive bags etc in vehicle once unload dive gear on board

·         Only 3 DIN Tanks - take DIN adapters

·         Dive off a tender

 

Notes

·         We are getting a $500 plus discount

·         There are 2 cabins (normally at an increased price for 2 per cabin - both can be fitted out for singles)

·         Shared bunk area for 4 people

·         Travel Insurance recommended in case cancelled due to COVID or weather

 

I will also work out options for Accommodation on return night as we get in too late for any flights.

Please let me know by email - (garydavis@netspace.net.au) of the following:

  • Will you be flying up or driving"
  • Do you have a DIN First Stage?
  • Do you have a Din to Yoke adapter?
  • Do you have any dietary requirements (Yes/No) - I don't need to know yet but will find out in the next round
  • Do you have a CPAP machine that requires 240v power at your bunk/bed?
