Our Home

The UNSW Hockey Club was formed in 1952 and is based in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney about 10 minutes from our famous beaches, Bondi and Coogee and 15 minutes from the heart of Sydney's vibrant CBD. Our home training ground is based at the University's water-based synthetic surface at Dave Phillips Oval on Banks Ave, Daceyville (just minutes from the UNSW main campus!). We have over 400 members across our Seniors (mens & womens) and Juniors (u9, u11, u13, u15 and u17) teams.

Our Programs

We offer our members and officials high performance, development and social hockey programs, delivered by accredited coaches. UNSW student scholarships are available to elite athletes. Click here for Scholarship details.

Our Competitions

Our 9 men's teams play in a Sydney-wide hockey competition across all hockey turfs in Sydney. Our top men's team competes in the Premier League Divisions 1, 2, 3 and we also have teams in SL1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 7 which commence in late March 2025.

Our top women's teams compete in the Sydney Womens Hockey League (SWHL) - Metro 1, 2, 3. This is the highest level in Sydney with the competition based across several venues in Sydney, mainly at the Olympic Hockey Centre in Homebush. We also have teams in ML4 & ML6. Additionally we have 6 teams that compete in the local Sydney East Womens Hockey Association (SEHA) where the competition is based at various locations across Sydney - they are competitive, very social and friendly. The player selection trial process is in February / March and the competitions commence in late March / Early April 2025.

The UNSW hockey club has many international students and players throughout both the men’s and women’s team creating a very vibrant cultural mix at the club. We would welcome all enquiries from anyone interested in playing for our club.

As a mixed men's, women's and junior Club we make sure that the Hockey Club is very social with events throughout the year including trivia nights, a 7-a-side competition and our annual presentation night.

We also have teams that compete in the University Games competitions. Contact us for more information.

To join the club, fill out the intent to play form and come along to our new player trials day in mid February 2025.
