Men's VP's Welcome

We here at the Whalies welcome all hockey players no matter your age or skill level. Currently we have players from all round Sydney, NSW, Interstate and Overseas. Not studying at UNSW, doesn't matter, we welcome non students as well.

The Men's Competition is run by the Sydney Hockey Association and games are played all round Sydney, from Pennant Hills to Bankstown. Training is held Monday thru to Thursday nights, so just pop down and introduce yourself or send us an email and we will get you going. We can't guarantee that you will end up playing for Australia, although two of our tribe currently are! But we are sure you'll have a good time and make some great new friends.

Teams and Training

UNSW Hockey Club welcomes male players of all skills and levels. We are currently entered in the Sydney Hockey Association (SHA) competition and have 9 teams to cater for all skill levels.

Our first grade mens side play in the prestigious Sydney Premier League Division 1 and have made the finals series for a number of years running. Our club has teams in Premier League 1-3 & Sydney League 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 7.

Our home turf is located at the Dave Philip Sports facility at Daceyville, right next door to the Bonnie Doon Golf Course, just down the road from the UNSW main campus and a stones throw from Churchies the local sports bar where all and sundry are also welcome! Not only are we a competitive club on the field but we also a very social club where life-long friendships are formed.

Competition fees and Dates

The competition usually runs from March until early September and are played on Saturdays with the occasional Sunday.
