|| WHAT'S HAPPENING ||

Winter is just around the corner and The Underwater Club is South Coast bound to soak up the serenity at Batemans Bay. The perfect Easter getaway to bury your mid-semester anxiety 18m down (literally). Expect diving adventures, great banter, beach beers, big cook ups and easter egg hunts.

Batemans Marine Park is an intriguing underwater world that stretches along the Eurobodalla coast, with reefs, caves and sheltered waters making it a stunning spot for diving. The Tollgate Islands are an often-forgotten critical habitat for the elusive Grey Nurse Shark – so we are hoping for some sightings. So if you’re into ticking of GNS critical habitat, this is the trip for you.  

There are three main areas for boat dives in Batemans Bay. Each spot offers a diverse diving experience, and all are located inside the Batemans Bay Marine Park. The Tollgate Islands, Black Rock and Burrewarra Point. Expect abundant marine life, grey nurse sharks, cuttlefish, octopus, bubble caves, nudibranchs and cool underwater topography (maybe even a lost seal from nearby montague). Dives are open to all levels of diving and we will be diving a range of sites from those suited to experienced divers, and new divers.  More info on possible dive sites here https://bbdive.com.au/dive-sites/.

If you are new to the club and/or scuba diving, this is the perfect opportunity to come along on a trip and meet new diving buddies, get comfortable with your scuba skills, and learn how much amazing fun you can have on our regular club dive trips.

Did we mention we’ve also secured a sweet beach house, perfect for post-dive beach chills, beers and sunsets (or sunrises if that’s more your thing).

If you are uncomfortable sharing a house and possible a room with people you don’t know, this trip is unfortunately not for you.

|| COST ||

$180 – includes 4 nights’ accommodation; meals Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday (breakfast only) and drinks for the party night! (Drinks will be provided however those with more discerning tastes are welcome to BYO).

|| DIVING ||

$25 per boat dive (1/3rd of the cost of commercial operators). We are planning for 3 days diving (Fri, Sat, Sun), 2 boat dives/day each (weather permitting) at a variety of dive sites.

Air fills at local dive shops and approx. ~$10. And free shore dives if you’re still craving time underwater! Guerrilla Bay and Broulee Bubble Cave are both super close to where we are staying.

In order to participate in the organised dives, you will need to show us your SCUBA certification card and be competent and confident in your swimming abilities. You should have dived within the past 12 months and be comfortable to dive in a buddy pair without a dive guide (we aren’t a commercial dive shop).

|| GEAR ||

You are responsible for organising your own gear. BCDs, tanks, regulators, wetsuits, masks, fins and weights are all available to hire from the club through our gear hire portal - https://www.revolutionise.com.au/underwaterclub/gear-hire-. You will need to book, collect, clean, dry and return any hired club gear.

|| GETTING THERE ||

Batemans Bay is scenic 4-hour drive South of Sydney. As it is a long weekend, we recommend travelling outside of peak times so a 4 hour drive doesn’t become 8.

Everyone is responsible for organising their own transport (including dive gear). Due to COVID-19 we can’t recommend carpooling with people outside your household.

Bookings for this trip will open at 7:30pm on Wednesday, 11 March 2021. You will need to be a paid 2021 member to register. Please note that the number of attendees on this trip are limited so be quick to register (we suggest setting a reminder on your phone). A waitlist will be opened at 7:40pm on Wednesday 10 March 2021 for those that miss out in case of cancellations.
