Event information

This event is sold out.

The UNSW Underwater Club is proud to present the annual Great Barrier Reef liveaboard, June/July 2022.

The past few Kalinda's have been so popular selling out in record time we're going back TWICE this year!  We also just love hanging out Captain Dave and the Kalinda Crew in tropical paradise. We have two charters booked, one in May over uni break and another in late June, so time to book in your leave!

This event is for the June trip.

UNSW Underwater Club is taking to the high seas aboard the luxurious MV Kalinda for another week of diving, eating, partying and many games of monopoly deal on the Great Barrier Reef! Our captain, Dave, has been navigating these waters for longer than he can remember and he is going to let us in on his top-secret dive locations. Aboard the Kalinda, we will travel to the most pristine and untouched reefs in the outer Great Barrier Reef marine park. These reefs are home to a plethora of weird and wonderful sea critters, including sea snakes, giant clams, walking sharks, nudibranchs and possibly even (but no promises) whales. If this doesn’t wet your neoprene then we will be finishing the trip with a day diving on the SS Yongala, an unforgettable 110m long shipwreck widely regarded as the best wreck dive in the world. As you will be living on a boat for a week this trip is all-inclusive of meals, accommodation and tank fills all for an unbeatable price of $1500pp.

Further details of this trip will be provided to members who have registered and paid.

If you are uncomfortable sharing a boat and/or cabin with people you don’t know, this trip is unfortunately not for you.

||WHERE IS IT||
The boat will depart from and arrive back at Breakwater Marina, Townsville. You will need to arrange your own transport to and from Townsville.

Townsville is only 10 days by horse but for those who insist on a more efficient option, I would recommend flying into Townsville Airport before 4 pm. There will be no diving on the last day of the liveaboard so you will be safe to fly back to Sydney anytime after 11. Flights from SYD - TSV are direct and around $300 - $400 return.

||DATES||
June 27 - July 4 (Monday - Monday)

(Please don't book flights until you have reserved a spot and the trip organiser has given you the correct times - unless you like cancellation fees).

||Dive Staff Volunteers||

If you're interested in volunteering to help out Captain Dave on the boat we can take 2 per trip. You'll be assisting with tank fills, dive lookout duties, logging divers in/out and any in water supervision. Its a great way to spend the week and an all round fun experience. You need to be a currently insured DM or higher for this. If this sounds like something you're interested in or you want more details please sing out! Register an EOI here if you tick the boxes. This will be determined on a first come first served based and prior experience.

|| Cancellation Policy||

If you cancel your trip, for any reason, refunds are subject to your space in the trip being filled. We will do our best to fill your place but this is not possible in all circumstances.
