Boatie Training 2.0
Event information
Boatie Training is back on again!
Places will be strictly limited to 8 people, and preference will be given to those who attended the first session and those people that hold a valid NSW Boat Licence.
Cost is $30pp to cover a full day of boat fuel, but will be invoiced separately after you have booked in order to manage priority allocations to those who meet the above criteria.
We need You!
Club trips with the Didj can only run if there are boaties available to drive, so if you have a boat licnence and are interested then I strongly encourage you to attend. Remember that every time you drive the boat, you get a free boatdive as a thankyou for your hard work.
Training will begin at the UNSW Tramshed where you will be shown the boat in detail and learn how to pack and prepare the boat and trailer for towing. We will then proceed to Botany Bay where you will be taught how to launch and retrieve the boat from a boat ramp. We will then spend the day learning and practising all the technical and practical skills that are required by skippers to safely operate a boat full of divers. We will then head back to the Tramshed in the afternoon to learn what is involved in washing and packing away the Didj after use.
All attendees will be sent an information pack with compulsory pre-reading to ensure their water safety knowledge is up to date prior to hitting the water. You will be formally tested on your boat handling skills and must pass with enough points in order to be certified as a boatie. Don't be scared. You can always get signed off at a later date if you need a bit more practice.
This is always a great day that is a lot of fun where you can learn a huge amount that will make you more competent both as a skipper and scuba diver when you are out on the water.
Seamonkey will of course be attending.
