EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

President

[1]

Are you good at making decisions and problem solving?

Heads the executive committee and has overall responsibility for the Club and its activities. This is a rewarding role for those who like a challenge. This role involves supporting the Committee in their respective roles to keep the cogs turning. You will also be responsible for coordinating (and delegating) all the operations behind the scenes including asset management, ArcSport liaisons, funding, equipment, calendars, etc.

Previous experience in the Committee and Club are strongly encouraged.

Vice President

[1]

Assists and supports the President in their role and works concurrently to ensure the responsibilities are met. Knowledge of how the club runs and what needs to be done is helpful, however under a leading hand the VP may just be an enthusiastic member who is keen to involved.

Good communications skills, the ability to make things happen, delegate and enthusiasm for the running of the club are the essentials for this position.

Treasurer

[1]

The ‘mighty-hand’ behind-the-scenes that funds the big boats, great club trips, dinners, beer and snags!

What you’ll need to do:
- Direct and track club finances
- Approve invoices & refund expenses
- Come up with the annual budget

If you can manage your own finances, you’ll be applying that same idea to this role. You will predominately be communicating with people from the Committee, UWC members and UNSW ArcSport.

Secretary

[1]

This is a fantastic role that ensures you are involved with the inner workings of the club and gets you heaps of kudos at the same time! - "Yeah, I'm the secretary of the largest, coolest underwater club in NSW!".

This role involves booking meeting rooms, ordering pizza for our hard-working committee, compiling the agenda and minutes and assisting in ensuring the committee meetings run smoothly and productively. Sending emails to the committee informing them of scheduled meetings and issuing them with the agenda and minutes, as well as being a general point of call for club members are also secretarial responsibilities.

Student Rep

[1]

Be the "student voice" of the club, liaising with Arc Sport, the club executive and committee. A great way to get to know the club inner workings whilst being on the executive without the major responsibilities.

GENERAL COMMITTEE

Dive Officer

[2-4]

DO IT! The Dive Officer (DO) plans & supports our major dive events for the year. Being DO doesn't mean that you have to run every dive weekend, however you need to help ensure that they are a success and that the members have a fun & safe time.

The DO should be a keen diver with good communication skills and some passion for organisation.

Boat Officer

[3-4]

Great for those with a practical knowledge of boats and mechanical issues (experience preferred).

You must hold a current NSW boat licence and been an approved UWC boatie.

You'll have the rewarding role of maintaining and repairing the club boat and to have the DIDJ ready for salty adventures. You’ll ensure that other club assets, such as the compressor and trailers are serviced and are in good condition. This includes any equipment, ropes, tools, pumps, oils and containers, radios. You'll also assist with access to the Tramsheds as necessary as well as keeping the committee informed of the status of, any damage to and repairs necessary, or problems with club hardware in general, and update maintenance logs and records as necessary.

Gear Officer

[4-5]

Do you like helping people dive? Do you enjoy meeting new people, and seeing familiar faces throughout the year? Can you keep track of tanks and regs in an electronic online booking system? If yes, then gear officer could be the role for you. The gear officer is one of the most to face jobs of the club. It is to you that people go to get their gear for the trip. It's you that the gear is returned to. It's you that must make sure the tanks are in test. And it is you that encourages people to dive and make use of the gear. The gear office is usually open twice a week for 1 at a time.

Basically, the gear officer's role is to keep track of the gear, and make sure it is usable. The reverse occurs when the gear comes back. You help make sure the gear gets yearly servicing, and that there is still enough to be used for weekend trips. The gear officer's role is to maintain gear and enable and encourage the club to dive. Oh, and you get FREE GEAR HIRE!

Social Officer

[2-4]

Organises and advertises all social club events. This includes organising monthly social gatherings (like pub crawls, annual dinners, ocean festivals, AGMs, Harbour Cruises and any other social events). Knowing your way around email, Facebook and UWC website are ideal and you'll keep the rest of the committee/exec up to date with future social plans. You'll be keeping your finger on the UWC's social media pulse by assisting the exec/committee with club's pages. You'll be organised and able to delegate responsibilities but most importantly be fun, friendly and enthusiastic about getting out and doing 'stuff!

Membership Officer

[1]

Similar to the social officer, you're involved in getting new members interested and active. When people are considering joining the club for diving and social events, you're often their first point of call to see what we're all about. Again, you'll ideally be outgoing, friendly and welcoming. You'll also keep track of membership stats on the website to report to the treasurer for the budget annual, help ensure good promotion over the year, and getting people involved in our Oweek stalls.
