Ahoy sailors,
Easter is fast approaching and I’ve been doing some research on where to do a sailing trip. Keeping the kids and family in mind, I have come up with a cruise on the Clarence River starting in Grafton.
.
Numbers are starting to grow for the Clarence River Crawl over the Easter weekend.
We will be launching on Good Friday from the Clarence River Yacht Club in Grafton, not to be confused with the Clarence River Sailing Club, 2 different clubs . I will share the address closer to the event. We can leave our vehicle there in a locked compound. (I have spoken to the secretary of the Clarence River Yacht Club and gained permission to use their facilities to safely leave our vehicles in a locked compound for a $10 per night fee. They also have showers and toilets if we need them)
The pontoons at the various locations along the river are for public use and first in first served. They generally can only accommodate 2 boats at a time. If we get a space, we can raft up or I will be taking my dingy and for those who don’t have one we can share mine. (an inflatable SUP might be a good idea if you have one)
The itinerary is not set yet but there is a Scottish festival held in Maclean and several hotels with pontoons we can access along the way. Our plan is to stop for lunch and dinner at these hotels and I believe some have showers we can use. This cruise should be a relaxing event for all the family to enjoy. Please register if you are keen to join us.
I’m looking forward to this cruise , full moon on the river should be amazing .
Cheers everyone
Happy sailing
