Toowong Harriers Athletics Club Logo2024/25 Season Open

Hello Harriers,

Welcome to the start of the 2024/25 Queensland Athletics Season. We have now closed the curtains on 2023/24, which was a very challenging and long season in so many ways, but with so much achieved, it will require a separate newsletter to go through all of our member's and club achievements.

This season will be our club’s 131st year and we have many changes in play to enable our members to engage further with the club.  We will have more opportunities to compete as a club and to recognise your efforts and performances throughout both Summer and Winter season.

This year we will see our young up and coming athletes from U10+ compete at QA Shield events and as usual we hope to see our journeyman of the sport, join us in Track n' Field Competition at QSAC and other venues around the state.

The Little Athletics side of the Club is well and truly underway, with numbers at 410 members and growing.  Three LAQ club meets under our belt to date, and the first of the points competition is starting in October.  It’s going to be a cracker year!

As per previous year's the Stack Team App will be the place to get all the news of what is going on, plus the usual Facebook, www.toowngharriers.org.au and Queensland Athletics Toowong Harriers Club portal can be found at https://www.revolutionise.com.au/toowongharriers/home/ . Please save this in your favourites, you will use this to access QA registrations, club news etc.

24/25 Club Membership

As of yesterday, the membership portal is live, you can renew your annual membership via the Registration button on the revolutionise Club Portal https://www.revolutionise.com.au/toowongharriers/home/ or via the ToowongHarriers.org.au website and join.

oPlease contact myself at president@toowongharriers.org.au or Luke at treasurer@toowongharriers.org.au  to explain the process.

Your membership is for an entire year from October 2024 to September 2025 and all events are open to all ages from U10 to masters. If you would like to know more, please contact Wayne our Senior Co-ordinators. Seniors@toowongharriers.org.au

To some this process of QA & LAQ and club fee’s is a little confusing, so please do not hesitate to drop myself or Wayne a line at President@toowongharriers.org.au or Seniors@toowongharriers.org.au

Summer track and field competition is open for all ages down to U10, noting that eligibility for the State and National Championships only commence at U11s

Winter XC and certain Road Distance competition may commence for ages as low as U6 years.

Uniforms

We have some exciting new additions coming to the Harriers kit in the form bucket hats and cotton hoodies, along with a limited run of club Tracksuit pants from our supplier SCODY. This new range of new club kit will be coming into the club in limited numbers initially to better gauge the interest, we hope to have samples and some stock for purchase next month.

These new uniforms have come from discussions across our membership base with an aim to meet the needs of our members with athletics focused designs, and club styling. We will provide an update and images in next month's newsletter.

Training & Competition

The first competitions for the Summer Season are not far away;

·    Denise Boyd Sheild

·    Queensland All-Schools Championships

·    Toowong Gift

·    Queensland Relay Championship

Another addition for club members for this year’s summer program is the ability to compete at Jack Cook Centre Meets. Note senior club members (Open - Masters) may attend and compete at our Centre meets (combined Little Athletics meets) in the 15 - 17yrs+ age classification. This is a fun, low stress, in club way to get times on the board and get back into Track & Field competition. The event calendar can be found https://www.toowongharriers.org.au/club-meets  along with the program of events (5 events each meet) @ $6 per meet.

Coaching gets into full swing as of this coming Sunday morning (10th October) with the first of the open ClubHouse training mornings at Jack Cook Park from 8.00–10.30am every Sunday, Middle Distance squad training continues on Thursday evening from 6.00pm. Plus various event-specific coaching is available in private squads.

I will be sending out more information about Shield meets, State relays, and Coaching in the coming weeks, for further details on QA events & Senior Coaching please contact Wayne at Seniors@toowongharriers.org.au
