Zone Squad - Additional Information

Zone Squads are a part of the Tennis Australia Player Development Pathway which will work to increase participation at the performance level of development by creating more opportunities to more aspiring Australian junior tennis players. This program will also enable Tennis Australia to engage some of the great private coaches we have across Australia as we appoint selected coaches as ‘Zone Coaches’ who will be responsible for the facilitation of these sessions.

For Victoria, we have identified four 11U & 13U Metro Zone Squads being; North, South, West and East. These Zone Squads will be facilitated by our Victorian Zone Squad Coaches. In order to be eligible for this player development program, players must be of age as of June 30th, 2023 (eg a player turning 12 on June 29 would not be eligible for the 11U Metro Zone Squad). Each Metro Zone Squad will comprise of four * 2.5 hour training sessions per term, at a player cost of $12.50 per hour. Specifics surrounding each program will be communicated once players are selected, with 4 girls & 4 boys being selected based on the suburb they reside and proximity to the closest Zone Squad.

It is important that you know this squad program is envisioned as an optional addition to your current weekly schedule that you have with your private coach. Should you be selected, it is intended to complement your weekly schedule by providing further on court training, strength and conditioning and match play opportunities. Lastly, selected players will be invited into the relevant program on Wednesday 7th December.
