Terms Of Registration

FORMAT: This event is an individual event played over 6, 9 or 18 holes.

TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE: The Tournament Committee appointed by Golf Australia shall have the sole management & control of the tournament, will have full power to alter or vary any of the conditions, at any time, including scheduling another day or venue should it be deemed necessary. The Tournament Committee’s decision on all matters affecting the tournament shall be final.

ENTRIES: The tournament is open to male & female amateur golfers who have not attained the age of 18 years, as at the first day of the event.
Entries must be received by the Tournament Director, Golf Australia by the closing date. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.
Entry fees must be paid at the at the time of nomination. Once the draw is complete and posted online there will be no refund of entry fees to players who withdraw from the event. Consideration will only be given to those who have notified Golf Australia of extreme circumstances.

RULES: The Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A Rules Limited will apply together with such Local Rules that are approved by the Tournament Committee. Please note Golf Australia may adopt modified rules for these events, if so GA will communicate these Rules to the players before the start of the event.

PROTESTS: Disputes or protests must be made in writing and be lodged with the Tournament Committee within ten minutes of the completion of the competitor’s round.

CADDIES: Participants will be permitted to have a caddy. The following will apply when caddies are permitted. Caddies are encouraged to ensure that:

  1. Each golfer is having fun and enjoying themselves while on course
  2. The pace of play is acceptable and that participants are encouraged to play ‘Ready golf’
  3. There is not excessive coaching while on course - little tips here and there are fine and encouraged
  4. Each group has one person who ensures that the juniors are ready to play and when it is their turn to hit
  5. They are encouraging fast play by getting participants to walk quickly to their ball, watching where all balls go, raking bunkers and leaving the golf buggy in an appropriate spot so not to hold up play when moving onto the next hole.
  6. Participants verify their scores at the end of each hole where possible
  7. Players hand their completed and verified score cards into the GA official
  8. Scoring disputes are never loudly verbalized, but addressed with an official GA staff member

CODE OF CONDUCT: All entrants are bound by Golf Australia’s Code of Conduct ("the Code"). A copy of the Code is available at www.golf.org.au. Any breach of the Code may be recorded on the Central Register of the Code ("the Register"). The Register may be accessed (and published from time to time) by any State Association or Golf Australia for the purposes of administering competitions or state championships, events, competitions, practice sessions or major activities conducted or sanctioned by a State Association, or any State Association or Golf Australia codes of conduct and/or other related matters.

HANDICAP. It is not a requirement to have an official handicap to enter this event. Players with a Golf Australia handicap however will be required to submit their score cards for handicapping. Competitors playing on an incorrect handicap will be disqualified.

TIES: In the event of a tie for any division/category, placings will be determined by use of the Australian Count-back System, including overall winners.

DRESS REGULATIONS: It is a requirement of this tournament that all players must comply with the minimum dress regulations of the host club.

PACE OF PLAY: Rule 5.6 will be strictly enforced. Each group must maintain its position on the course with respect to the group preceding it. Any group with a clear hole in front of it will be considered out of position. Penalties will be issued to individuals in such groups who, by their pace, contribute to such delay. Warnings may not be issued prior to penalties.

DRAW & STARTING TIMES: A draw for the event will be published. Players shall start at the time and in the order arranged by the Tournament Committee. Rule 5.3a provides ‘The Players shall start at the time laid down by the Committee’. The penalty for breach of Rule 5.3a is disqualification. However, it is a condition of this Tournament that, in the absence of circumstances which warrant waiving the penalty of disqualification as provided in Rule 5.3a, if the player arrives at his/her starting point, ready to play, within five minutes of his/her starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes, instead of disqualification.

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES: In this competition a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might effect his play (e.g. gradient, wind-speed, temperature etc) the player is in breach of Rule 4.3a for which the penalty is disqualification regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.

TROPHIES: the male & female competitor returning the best gross score will become the respective winners. Trophies/prizes will be awarded at the discretion of Golf Australia.

SMOKING: Smoking is prohibited during play. Penalty: Disqualification.

USE OF MOTORISED VEHICLES: During any round of the tournament, competitors may not travel in or on any motorised vehicles unless authorised by the Tournament Committee. Exceptions to this condition may be granted where a player suffers from a disability, which would preclude him/her from competing in the event without the use of a motorised vehicle. Details of the criteria for such exemptions are available on request.

MOBILE PHONES: The use of mobile phones whilst on the course is allowed in circumstances which include an emergency situation, rules advice and distance measuring device. Players are not allowed to recieve coaching advice during their round.

DATABASE OF COMPETITOR DETAILS: The personal data contained in this entry is permanently retained by GA. This data may be utilised by GA or its sponsors for the distribution of correspondence, in both electronic and hard copy means. From time to time players may be sent entry forms, event literature, the GA e-newsletter, or marketing material by the sponsor(s) of GA events, or information about events conducted by GA approved bodies. Upon receipt by GA of a written request, a player may either have access to their details, or have their details deleted from the database.
