We thought last Saturday was warm - this Saturday was not very pleasant at all until about 4.45pm
when the cool change came through.

Under 13's
Our coaches this season are Danni & Michael Ramadan. Their results so far are;
Round 1 : Frankston def Syndal 15-10
Round 2 : Bye
Round 3 : Ejays def Syndal
Round 4 : Syndal def Frankston 17-9
Round 5: Syndal def Diamonds 16-15
Round 6 : GEMSA def Syndal 17-14
Round 7 : Falcons def Syndal 19 - 12
Our u13’s finally got an opportunity to play at home against Falcons this week, albeit under some very testing conditions. We had a great first inning with the bat, seeing us make our way through our lineup with some great station to station softball. Sam Arthur did a wonderful job catching in our first fielding innings and we saw some wonderful plays at shortstop by Emily Incigneri.
Our second batting inning was a little bit more of a struggle to push runners across, but credit must go to Falcons for some brilliant fielding efforts. The strong fielding continued in our last half inning in the field, with Jenny Jian pulling out all the stops at short, but Falcons aggressive baserunning proved to be unstoppable.
I also want to credit the remainder of the team; Thomas Ramadan, Lily Hayhow, Jason Zhang, Echo Ma and Chloe Branidis for fielding wherever they may be asked without any complaint. We look forward to what we will be a tough test against Eastern Raiders at home next week.

Round 7 - Syndal defeated GEMSA 7- 0
GEMSA brought a different pitcher to face Syndal today, with much discussion about her action being legal or not. It made a difference to our players with more strikeouts than we would like to see! Game started the same way last week's game ended, with Sarah W throwing a couple of strikeouts. GEMSA did have a player reach first on a dubious call. The runner then attempted a dangerous game of beating Sarah B's arm - which she ultimately lost, with a pick-off at first.
Syndal's first inning was more colourful, with Steph finding a hole in centre field. followed by a couple of steals to get to third and a wild pitch to come home on. That same wild pitch got Miki to third following her walk to first. The catcher did try to stop Miki reaching third but it didn't work out and Miki made it home instead. Fortunately those runs came home as we then had 3 K2s.
The second inning was uneventful for both teams and then in the top of the third, GEMSA had a safe hit tocentre field. The next batter hit out to right field and into Audrey's glove who then threw to Kate at first for a double play, noticing that their runner had not held up. Syndal's third inning was a three up, three down inning and GEMSA were up again for top of 4. A hit up the left field line was stopped by Rose to prevent the runner reaching second. A walk followed but neither player could make it home and the score remained at 2-0 heading into the bottom of 4.
Sarah B started the fourth inning reaching third with a huge hit to right field that the fielder managed to glove but not control. And a wild pitch brought her home and Jess to first. But another set of three strikeouts saw our inning close with only 1 added to the score. GEMSA started the fifth with a single to right field, but the runner was out at second on a fielder's choice by Miki to Jess. More strikeouts to Sarah and GEMSA were still scoreless.
Bottom of fifth and Syndal started with two strikeouts followed by Steph hitting her hit straight back at the pitcher's feet and making first safely. Miki then beat third base's throw to also reach on a safe hit and Syndal had two bases occupied with Sarah B coming up to bat again. GEMSA held a conference before they began Sarah's At Bat. With two strikes on her, Sarah connected with the pitch and sent the ball
through the cones at centre, bringing Steph and Miki home. Sarah was left on base and the inning finished 5-0.
GEMSA's sixth inning had a safe hit to shortstop, but the runner couldn't make it home despite stealing
second. Start of sixth, and Syndal needed two runs to end the game slightly early. It started well with Sarah W reaching first on an error by third. She was moved to second by a safe hit to Rose out to right field. And an error by shortstop saw Nat get to first and the other runners to second and third. Steph came up to bat with loaded bases and two out. To complete her hitting day, she hit a triple through the cones to left field and Syndal walked off with three runs crossing the plate on the play. Only two were required to finish the game7-0.
Summary stats:
Strikeouts: Sarah 8 v GEMSA 12
HIts: Syndal 6 (Steph 2x single and 1 triple, Miki single, Sarah triple (and a triple MF), Rose single) v GEMSA 5
Errors: Syndal 0 v GEMSA 4
Hopefully, our night game this week against GWSC will be a successful one too.

Round 7 - Syndal (3) defeated Raiders (0)
Just like that and we are playing our summer sport in 37 degree weather and recording a win. Both sides really battled in the heat with Kate recording 5 strike outs. Bottom of the 4th innings saw batters, Caitlin & Nat, get on by errors in the field to record our first runs. Paris’ hit, the only one for Syndal, scored these runs.
Tegan’s infield out scored Andy in the bottom of the 5th with a very welcome ‘TIME & GAME” called. With more hot weather to come for our season, brings a friendly remind to hydrate well before the day and bring some towels each to cool down with during the game.

Open 3 Wednesday v Heights Loss 4-5
It took until the 3rd innings for either team to score with some good defensive plays on both sides. Unfortunately Heights found no mans land in between the infield and outfield and managed to score 4 runs to Syndals 1. Another 2 great defensive innings held Heights to just 1 more run, Our final turn at bat was our best, we managed to score 3 runs before time ran out. It was great to see the team keep fighting right to the last minute.
Round 7 - Syndal (4) lost to Glen Waverley (15)
It was a hot day on Saturday and not a great game for the ladies. Glen Waverley as usual had the bats on fire with 7 home runs hit. However, we had our own home run heroes with Tammy and Megan both smashing the ball through the outfield.
Lena was back this week and had 2 solid hits to get on base.
