Under 13's
Our coaches this season are Danni & Michael Ramadan. Their results so far are;
Round 1 : Frankston def Syndal 15-10
Round 2 : Bye
Round 3 : Ejays def Syndal
Round 4 : Syndal def Frankston 17-9
Round 5: Syndal def Diamonds 16-15
Round 6 : GEMSA def Syndal 17-14
Our under 13’s travelled to Frankston to play GEMSA this week in some trying conditions.
We were unfortunately shorthanded this week, but thanks to some help from GEMSA and a very eager
Henry Ramadan, we were able to field a full team. Our fielding wasn't as crisp this week, but that will just
give us something to work towards as we head towards the Christmas break. A shoutout must go to Sam
Arthur who has caught the majority of our innings and continued to do so in some very warm weather with
no complaints.
Batting continues to be a strength, and we saw our first triple through the cones from Olivia Metsos.
A big thank you to all our juniors from this very proud coach and mum for the way you all included and
made Henry feel very welcome - he hasn't stopped raving about the super fun, awesome time he had.
Open 1 Syndal
Round 1: Washed Out
Round 2: Syndal lost to Ejays due to a Forfeit
Round 3: Syndal defeated Glen Waverley 4 - 0
Round 18 (Night Game): Syndal def GEMSA 8-1
Round 4: Syndal def Brandon Heights 9-0
Round 5: Syndal lost to United 0-5
Round 6 - Syndal defeated Ejays 3 - 0
A much better report this week to last. Danni Ramadan joined us this week to give us 9 players with Mel behind the plate again.
First inning was scoreless for both teams, although Ejays had one safe hit, they were struck out three times and didn't score the runner. Syndal had three ground outs and a walk. Similarly, in the second inning, EJays had only three batters face Sarah and all sat down following a strikeout, two of them being watched. Syndal managed to get bases loaded with a single from Kate, a double from Mel and an error for Danni, but still we didn't score.
EJays third inning had a little more action, with a dubious safe call at first followed by a missed double play led by Miki. Fortunately a well placed Audrey managed to keep the inning scoreless as her throw to first beat the batter-runner. Syndal came out firing for their third inning with three consecutive singles from Jess, Sarah and Kate. Kate got to second on her hit as the EJays pitcher threw to an empty first base. A sac fly from Mel brought Sarah home. Nat hit to shortstop who fumbled the ball allowing Kate to reach third and then Nat took on the catcher's arm by stealing second - she beat the throw and Kate reached home as EJays appeared to forget she was at third.
The next three and half innings were less colourful. EJays managed one safe hit and Syndal had three to Miki, Sarah and Danni with a sac bunt to Audrey, but no runs. In the battle of the pitchers (Over 35 to Titans) - Sarah won the strikeout challenge 14-5 with 7 being watched for Sarah.
Syndal had 8 hits to EJays 3.
Open 2
Round 1: Washed Out
Round 2: Syndal (10) def Glen Waverley (9)
Round 3: Syndal (22) def Raider (2)
Round 4: Syndal (7) def Monash Magic (6)
Round 5: Syndal (8) Def Ejays(2)
Round 18 (Night Game - 14/11) - Syndal (4) lost to Brandon Heights (7)
Round 6 - Syndal (4 ) lost to Glen Waverley (5)
Warmest day of the season so far and the players felt it.
As the score says - it was a close game. GWSA had 11 hits vs Syndal 6. Syndal scored on every opportunity not leaving runners on base. Kate pitched well from the middle recording 4 strikeouts and keeping strong GWSA batters to ground infield hits. Great planning by Kate and Olley. Watching GWSA 's practice session prior to the game, inspired Nat to steal home on the one/three split. Nice running Nat.
Syndals hitters for the day were Caitlin Olley 2, and singles to Nat, Katlyn W, Audrey and Andy.
RBI's for game Andy 2 and Nat 1.
Open 3
Round 1 - Washed Out
Round 2 - Syndal (3) lost to Glen Waverley (5)
Round 3: Syndal (4) lost to Monash Magic (6)
Round 18 (Night Game): Syndal (9) def Falcons (3)
Round 4: Syndal (1) lost to Ejays (9)
Round 5: Syndal forfeited to Raiders
Round 6 - Syndal (5) lost to Bruisers (7)
The ladies got off to a slow start giving Bruisers a 6 Nil lead at the end of the 2nd innings. Bruisers hitting some gaps and errors in the field gave Bruisers the head start we couldn't come back from.
Erin pitched her first game for Syndal and did a fantastic job with Megan behind the plate. Lily and Tammy hit a home run each, both with a runner on base and Kate crossed the plate to give us 5 runs at the end of the 3rd. Unfortunately, that was all she wrote, going down to Bruisers 5-7.
