Grudge Match Competition Rules

1

The comp will be played under WPNSW Competition Rules, with the following amendments:

1a

the length of prelims games shall be 2x7 minute halves, with 1 minute between the halves;

1b

the length of semi and finals games shall be 4x5 minute quarters, with 1 minute between each quarter (including halftime);

1c

competition ranking shall be determined by points allocation of game result: win - 3 points, draw - 2 points, loss - 1 point;

1d

tiebreaker for finals determination shall be the team with higher net goals (for - against) between the relevant teams; and,

1e

second tiebreaker shall be the team with the least major fouls between the relevant teams.

2

All players must be members of their respective clubs at a capitation level of silver (social) or higher in the WPA membership terms (for insurance purposes) and in good financial standing prior to participating in the competition.

4

All teams and players agree to adhere to the spirit and intent of the Comp Rules, plus abide by and enforce all Stingers (or their respective club's) Code of Conduct provisions and the WPNSW "Think. Act. Play" values to all other players. This includes no tolerance of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, and active inclusion of all no matter their background, gender or sexual identity.

5

Each Club shall create socially-focused competitive teams with an objective of balanced skill and roles across the team to encourage fun for all participants.

6

Each Club shall provide a team captain for each team to guide team development and skill, manage communication and support delivery of the competition, with an aim that these team captains will be responsible for ensuring teams abide by the Competition Rules and encourage participation.

7

Team Captains shall:

7a

be responsible for team development, both in and out of the water, and supporting individual skill development;

7b

be experienced players with captain, coach or other developmental or leadership experience;

7c

encourage and support individual and team skill development for their team players and other registered players in the comp, as relevant;

7d

support the Competition Coordinator in delivery of the competition, including ensuring table support and equipment packdown and management; and,

7e

encourage their team players to continue to advance their individual skills and knowledge of the sport and connection across the club by pursuing further training, education and social opportunities the Competition offers.

8

Stingers shall provide a Competition Coordinator to oversee conformance with the Competition Rules and ensure smooth delivery of the competition, including:

8a

Managing setup, pack down and care of competition equipment (eg. goals, cones, caps, balls, clock system) to maximise life and usability in line with Club Procedures;

8b

Ensuring sufficiently qualified ref and table support for competition games and equipment use;

8c

Bringing relevant materials for competition coordination (eg. scorecards, pens);

8d

Coordinate timing of competition sessions in line with Draw and schedule; and,

8e

Entering result of games into RevSport fixtures and reviewing scores for accuracy and ranking ahead of finals.

8f

The Competition Coordinator, in consultation with the Club Presidents, shall have discretion and authority to provide exemptions and interpretations to the Comp Rules where deemed either: 1) to be for the benefit of the overall competition; or 2) justified by individual circumstances. Any decisions by the Competition Coordinator shall not necessarily become future precedents.

9

The Competition Coordinator shall organise trainee, development or qualified refs for all competition games, with an aim of providing at least 1 qualified ref per game. The provision of refs will be a development opportunity for these individuals to improve their reffing skill and qualifications.
