For 20 years the Stingers have provided an inclusive place for the LGBTQ+ community to learn and play water polo and inspired greater inclusion in the Sydney sporting community. 

Since our founding in 2001 to compete in the Sydney Gay Games with less than 10 members training at Leichhardt Pool, the club has grown to nearly 200 members from all across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, training at Ryde and Gunyama Park Aquatic Centres, fielding up to 7 teams in the Sydney Metropolitan Competition, competing in grudge matches and IGLA tournaments around Australia and the world, and in 2021 designing and hosting our own internal social comp INTRA. We have introduced over 1000 people in our community to the sport of water polo, hosted incredible trivia nights and other events, danced our way up Oxford Street time and again to promote inclusion in sport and won awards for our efforts like the targeted recruitment and establishment of our women's comp teams in 2018. We support community partners like ACON and Bobby Goldsmith Foundation and supported the founding of sister clubs like the Brisbane Tritons and Perth Whitepointers. As Australia's oldest and largest LGBTQ+ inclusive water polo club, and Water Polo NSW's fastest-growing club, this will be a night to honour our past, celebrate where we've come to and look forward to our future and what lies in store.
