Code of Conduct

Members

  • As long as I am a member of the SSWPA I agree to be bound by the terms of this Code of Conduct.
  • I understand that it is an honour and a privilege to be a member of the Sutherland Shire water polo Association (SSWPA).
  • I agree to conduct myself in a mature, courteous, and responsible manner.
  • I recognise that the reputation of the SSWPA is affected by and dependent upon my conduct and behaviour.
  • I am proud to give permission for photographs that I may be in to be used for SSWPA promotion in any form, including but not limited to both physical print and on the SSWPA website and SSWPA profiles on social media websites (e.g. our Facebook page). 

In order to facilitate a pleasant, healthy and safe experience for all participants, to foster team unity and spirit, and to enhance the sport of water polo, I will do the following:

  • Conform to all rules, regulations and procedures announced by the SSWPA and facility staff.
  • Offer congratulations to my opponents, win or lose, as well as encourage fellow members.
  • Act and conduct myself with dignity and with respect for others and the property of others.
  • Always teach and practice good sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Participate in all games to the best of my ability.
  • Be on time for games, warm ups and other designated functions.
  • Take proper care of my cap and other SSWPA equipment and return them to their appropriate storage.
  • Bring my electronic tag to sign on to each game. I understand that failure to bring my tag three times during a season (or loss of/damage to my tag) will incur a financial penalty.

I further acknowledge that the following conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated:

  • Being under the influence of alcohol, prescription or prohibited performance- or mind-altering substances. There is no acceptable level of any of these substances.
  • Causing or threatening to cause physical harm to anyone be they a fellow member, opponent, coach, parent, spectator or official.
  • Inappropriate or unsportsmanlike behaviour at any time, before, during or after competition.
  • Bouncing/kicking or otherwise causing damage to water polo balls.
  • Removal of any SSWPA equipment, forms or otherwise SSWPA material from the facility without expressed consent.
  • Publication of any material that may bring the SSWPA into disrepute.

I understand that violating this Code of Conduct may result in immediate disciplinary action including but not limited to the following:

  • Suspension from the competition.
  • Forfeiture of all payments or credits for participation in the competition.
  • Suspension of rights and privileges afforded to members (such as acting in an official capacity).

I understand that the SSWPA’s judgment will prevail in any disciplinary action that arises.

Officials 

As an official, I understand that I am held to a higher standard above and beyond that of an ordinary member. In my official capacity, I will:

  • Encourage all athletes, officials and members of the SSWPA without regard to ethnicity, age, race, socioeconomic status, gender, exceptionalities, language, religion, sexual orientation, or geographic area.
  • Treat all referees, players, managers, coaches and other officials with respect.
  • Be honest and transparent when handling SSWPA, Club or member funds.
  • Act within the best interests of the SSWPA.
  • Handle sensitive information appropriately, in accordance with the Member Protection Policy.
  • Not publish, promote or support any material that may bring the SSWPA into disrepute.

I understand that the SSWPA may suspend my rights as an official at any time if I violate this Code of Conduct.

Parents & Spectators 

All parents, managers, coaches and spectators are prohibited from:

  • Harassing any referee, player, manager, coach or other official.
  • Publishing, promoting or supporting any material that may bring the SSWPA into disrepute.

Any parent, manager, coach or spectator violating the Code of Conduct is subject to immediate ejection from the game area by the referee(s) (or Game Authority generally) and subsequent suspension or further disciplinary action. The game may be suspended until the offending individual(s) leave the facility.


Sutherland Water Polo Club

I hereby give permission for the player above to play water polo, to participate in associated training and club activities and understand their details will be registered with SSWPA. I also authorise paid or unpaid Club officials to act for the player according to their best judgement in any emergency requiring medical attention to the player and hereby waive and release Sutherland Waratah ASC inc and the officials from any liability for any injury or illness incurred while the player is playing and/or training. I will be financially responsible for any medical attention needed. By filling in this Registration Form and agreeing to this Code of Conduct, you acknowledge that water polo is a potentially dangerous activity, and this constitutes a warning under S5M of the Civil Liability Act 2002.
