The ACT Women’s League competition provides opportunities for female identifying players aged 15 and above to participate in softball. There are both competitive and social grades with slight rule modifications to maximise enjoyment and development for players of all skill levels. All games are played at the fields of the Hawker International Softball Centre on a Saturday afternoon.
Junior players can begin to transition into the Women’s competition from 15 years of age.
For the 24/25 season, Sutherland is looking to enter teams into the social grades (C, D, E) of the Women’s competition. We are looking for both experienced and beginner players to join our women's teams.
Adult sport participation is beneficial for physical health (decreases risk of diabetes1, cardiovascular disease1, muscle atrophy and osteoporosis2, and improves blood pressure regulation2 and immune function2), and mental health (improves self-esteem and mood1, decreases stress, distress and risk of depression1). |
GAME TIMES
For the 24/25 season, the ACT Women’s competition will be held on Saturday afternoons with alternating between the following start times:
1:30pm
3:30pm
5:30pm
TRAINING
Training sessions help individual players refine and develop all aspects of their playing skills. They also allow the team to learn and practise various fielding scenarios. Training sessions will be organised to suit the availability of the majority of senior players.
CANTEEN AND UMPIRING DUTY
Every team is allocated canteen and umpiring duties at Hawker throughout the season by Softball ACT. These duties are evenly distributed between our players and allocated by a roster. It is expected that each player will only have to fill one canteen duty and one umpiring duty per season.
FEES
Playing fees cover all aspects of participation (besides uniforms), including competition fees, insurance, umpiring, ground hire, and equipment. For further details on senior fees, see: Fees
UNIFORMS
Sutherland Women’s teams wear the senior shirt (loaned by the Club with personal shirts available for purchase), red or black pants or shorts, and red/white socks. Socks and red shorts, as well as other uniform options, (hats, visors, hoodies) can be ordered here: Uniforms.
Black softball pants can be purchased at Intersport, Fyshwick.
