The Suncoast Hinterland Softball Association’s (SHSA) vision is to promote, grow and develop community participation in Softball within the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland areas through access to quality facilities; strong junior and school development; quality education and skill development and the promotion of health, well-being and enjoyment for all. SHSA’s mission is to make Softball a dominant force through quality officials & facilities and strong growth in the Sunshine Coast region.
Suncoast Hinterland Softball Association was formed in May 1998 by 10 very keen people who all wanted to play Softball during winter on the Sunshine Coast. A venue was confirmed at the Nambour Show grounds - four (4) ladies teams playing in a women’s competition, along with 8 very keen juniors; 49 members in total. To be more central on the Sunshine Coast, the association moved to the Maroochydore Crickets grounds for 7 years, before finally moving to the current venue at Mooloolah. The new venue was previously the home to the Hawks Baseball Club - with 2 existing diamonds with permanent back nets and dugouts, which were in desperate need of an upgrade.
Due to the increase in membership over the years to over 200 members, the association identified the need to provide better facilities to meet the needs of the members. This membership comprises of mixed U10’s, U12’s, U15’s, Women’s B grade, Men, Masters, officials and administrators.
Members of the SHSA compete in weekly fixtures from U/10’s through to U/15’s in the junior competitions, women's & masters' competitions, school competitions, carnivals and State Championships.
The SHSA is based at the Mooloolah Valley Multi Sports Complex where members attend training sessions, weekly fixtures, accreditation courses, development programs, Carnivals and Management meetings.
The tireless efforts of the SHSA membership and the success of recent state and regional funding, all have led to the restoration and upgrade of facilities & fields; with first-class back nets and dugouts, Grandstands, sports field lighting, new amenities and a place for the SHSA to call home.
