Communication and respect is key to be a successful sportsman!

“We want to do things right from the start.”

This is a NORTHSIDE STINGRAYS Initiative that we are opening to all members of the O&M.

The aim of this session is to support our teens who are playing at a level beyond their age group or playing at a rep level. A key focus is on how to understand emotions and appropriate reactions.

Mark Sarau who was Lavington’s director of coaching in 2016 and 2017, spent three years as coach of Barnawartha and four at Rutherglen locally and has coached from VFL to Tallangatta league over the last 25 years. He has worked with young men to be better players and individuals and is coming on board to talk to our O&M teens about how to handle themselves in situations of pressure, the use of positive communication and how to look after each other.

With the intent to provide information and support to young players about how they can cope with the pressures of being junior players in an adult sport. The aim is to provide them with strategies that will assist them, with both their on field performance, and more importantly, their mental wellbeing. The focus will be on communication and respect. This session is in line with the Think, Act, Play message that underpins the foundations of Waterpolo NSW code of conduct, and an invitation is extended to young men from all Ovens and Murray Waterpolo Clubs.

“As a coach you try and get the best out of the players you have and to coach the best is a great opportunity.” Mark Sarau
