My name is Rebecca Bubicich and I am the Steel City Hockey Club Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) for the 2024 season.
I have been playing hockey since I was around 8 years old (way-back when our juniors were affiliated with schools and not clubs) and have continued playing since.
Of all the different sports I have played over the years around Whyalla, hockey was the one that stuck. When it was time to choose a club, I chose Steel City for its values of being a family-friendly driven club and their sportsmanship both on and off the field.
In the time I have been a part of Steel City, I have coached our juniors, participated in umpiring/mentoring for our juniors, volunteered in the canteen, been on the SCHC committee, organised a range of different functions and been the SCHC MPIO.
I have also been very privileged to have and continue to represent Whyalla for many regional-based competitions.
My role as the MPIO is to ensure we as a club are up to date and compliant with all the required checks and training as well as providing our members with support by being a sounding board for any issues or concerns you may have – nothing is too big or too small for us to discuss and work through!
As the MPIO, I am determined to ensure all members feel safe and enjoy themselves out at hockey but also to assist people in understanding their rights and responsibilities both on and off the hockey pitch.
If you ever feel the need to get in contact with me, my details are listed on our club website under the Governance tab, use the MPIO button on our website or in the weekly newsletter, or you can catch me out and about the hockey grounds for a chat.
I look forward to meeting you and excited for the 2024 season ahead of us.
Rebecca.
