Jane wins her first club run.

The SACCC took to Warrak to run the Club championship Watkins family 6.5km race. With a chilly start the group ran a challenging bush track for this cross country race. With the last loop taking the group around the sheep paddock then finishing up the steep driveway for Leo Watkins farm. Thanks to Mike and Nicki for timekeeping, despite an early hiccup which was easily fixed.

Mark Thompson fastest home won the championship race with wife Tess fastest female and second in the championship race. Once handicaps were applied Jane Stoneman was crowned winner of the Handicap race. Jane was 1.21mins ahead of Tess Thompson in second with Mark was third. Jane is one of the cheeriest runners with the club, she runs consistently and is always happy to support others. Everyone was glad to see her win her first race.

On the day President Shev presented Sue Blizzard her much earned badge for her 100th club race. Thanks to the Watkins family for marking the course, and the support out during the race. Leo also put the kettle on with all the club enjoyed a shared morning tea.

Next Sunday 21st August the club meets at Alec McKenzie Dam on Saw Pit Flat Rd, Ararat Hills for the Peter Gibson 8000m Handicap. Meet at 9.15am for 9.45am race start. All new runners welcome to join.
