Snowboard Community Update - January 2024 |
Dear Snowboard Community,
Welcome to the first Snowboard community update of 2024. We have had a very busy northern season so far with over 40 athletes overseas competing in FIS events in Europe, North America, and Asia.
Over in Gangwon, South Korea at the Youth Olympic Games, history was made last weekend with Abbey Wilson and William Martin claiming bronze in the SBX team event. The pair are the first athletes to claim a medal for Australia at these Games and continue Australia’s success in Snowboard Cross, with Josie Baff winning gold in 2020 at Lausanne. In the individual Women’s race, Wilson placed 4th and Lara Walsh placed 18th. In the individual Men’s event, Martin placed 12th and Cameron Turner placed 16th. Congratulations to the YOG Snowboard Team on their results!
