Dear Park and Pipe Community,

Park and Pipe action in Europe is set to ramp back up this month with multiple Aussie athletes representing the Green & Gold across a massive schedule of events!

Wrapping up last month’s World Cup action was the Calgary Snowboard Halfpipe event where Valentino Guseli was able to secure his maiden gold medal in the halfpipe event. Guseli stomped his first two runs and was able to celebrate his win with a victory lap in what was the last halfpipe event for the season. In the women’s event, Emily Arthur was able to make it through to the finals, where she finished in 8^th place.

The Laax Europa Cup Premium Slopestyle event kicks off on 9^th of March CET where 11 Aussie athletes will compete across the snowboard and Freeski events, headed by World Cup athlete, Josh Robertson-Hahn, and 2023 Junior World Championships Bronze medalist, Ally Hickman, in the Snowboard event, and YOG finalist, Joey Elliss, in the Freeski event. We wish all the best to all those competing!

Following this will be the Tignes World Cup in France beginning on 13^th of March, where Aussie World Cup skiers Kai Martin, Cam Waddell and Abi Harrigan will all aim to bring home the hardware. In Snowboard, we’ll get to see Olympians Valentino Guseli and Tess Coady back in action along with NSWIS athlete Mela Stalker. A week later on the 21^st of March, will be the Silvaplana World Cup which looks to be promising with 6 athletes representing Australia across both disciplines. Good luck to all our World Cup athletes ahead of these events!

Coming up after the World Cup action this month will be the FIS Junior World Championships in Livigno, Italy. The event will run from the 22^nd of March – 30^th of March featuring both Slopestyle and Big Air events, rounding out the month’s competition. A team announcement will be made next week once all the Junior World Championships teams have been confirmed, good luck to our promising junior athletes who will represent Australia over in Livigno!

Aussie snowsport fans can now catch all the FIS World Cup action this season for free via FIS TV.

Snow Australia has acquired the rights and are proud to be delivering this free of charge for Aussie fans during the 2023-2024 World Cup season.

Park and Pipe March World Cup Events:

Australian teen snowboard prodigy Valentino Guseli has recorded his first career Halfpipe World Cup victory in the halfpipe event, with an impressive gold medal performance in Canada.

The 18-year-old led the final from start to finish, opening with an 89.25 point run before improving his score to 91.50.

When no other riders were able to match Guseli’s scores from the first two runs, Guseli was able to complete a “victory lap” in the third and final run celebrating with the large crowd on his way down the Calgary halfpipe.

The National Snowsports Training Centre (NSTC) will be opening its doors to the Park Clubhouse this weekend. 

The clubhouse is the latest addition to the NSTC facility located at the main entrance point to the Park and will be available for all guests to use. 

Guests will be able to check-in at the Clubhouse prior to commencement of the airbag sessions and have access to changing rooms and lockers. 

Staff will be available for equipment checks to skis and snowboards to ensure that they are safe to use on the airbag. Staff will also be on hand to attend to any waxing needs of skis and snowboards at a minimal cost.

There is a job opportunity to join the team at Snow Australia Interschools as an Event Officer.  The position will provide administrative assistance and event deliver support as part of the Snow Australia NSW / ACT / QLD / SA / AUS Interschools Event Management team.  For more information and details on how to apply, click HERE.  Applications close March 11.
