Cross Country Director Update - November 2023 |
Dear XC Skiers,
The gap between the Australian and northern hemisphere winters always seems short and this year is no exception. In a week from now, a handful of Australian Team athletes will be preparing to start the Norwegian season opener in Beitostolen. The week after that they will be joined by AUSXC Head Coach Alexei Sotskov in preparation for World Cup racing in Sweden and Norway. By that time plenty of other Australians will be scattered across Europe and North America, training and racing in competitions of all levels.
New for this season, Australians will be able to follow cross country skiing World Cups via FIS TV. In recent years keen followers (like myself) have needed to use a VPN to watch events via national broadcasters in Sweden, Switzerland etc., so this is a welcome alternative. See the article below for more details.
To assist with following National Team and other Australian cross country skiers racing overseas, and to inform about event selections, the following pages have been set up on the Snow Australia site:
These pages will be updated with new information throughout the season. If events are missing (particularly from the first page) or if anyone discovers new links for live results, please let us know. The National Team can also be followed via @snowaust and @ausxc on Instagram.
Safe travels to all heading overseas this summer.

2023-24 XC National Team Selection |
Snow Australia is pleased to announce the selection of the Cross Country Skiing National Team for 2023/24. Twenty-seven athletes will take their place in the World Cup, Continental Cup, U23 and Junior teams, including five Winter Olympians and five athletes making their debut on the team.
Major events for the team during the upcoming Northern Hemisphere winter include the 2023/24 World Cup series, the 2024 World Junior & U23 Championships, and the 2024 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
"Our main goal is clear: building a solid foundation for the 2025 World Championship in Norway, and on towards the 2026 Olympics in Italy," said head coach Alexei Sotskov. "The Trondheim World Cup in December is a great opportunity for the team to get to know the 2025 World Championship tracks and venue."
