Alpine Director Update - March 2024 |
Dear Alpine Community,
The excitement has continued to grow, and history was made once again, this time by Louis Muhlen-Schulte. Louis put together 2 impressive runs at the World Cup Giant Slalom in Aspen, Colorado to finish 27th and in doing so made history for Australia by becoming the first male athlete to score World Cup points in Giant Slalom. This hallmark moment built upon the earlier achievements of Harry Laidlaw and Madison Hoffman earlier this season. This is a testament to commiting yourself to something you love, driving yourself every day to be better than the last, and striving to be the best possible version of you! I hope this serves as an inspiration to all our athletes that Australians can compete on the world stage in Alpine. For each of you it requires following a passion, working hard and perseverance through the ups and downs.
I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize three Ski Cross athletes who will be representing Australia at the Ski Cross World Junior Championships in Idre Fjall SWE on April 13-15th. All the best to Kyra Wheatley, Emerson Facer and Duncan Cowan in their training and competition in the lead up to and at the World Junior Championships.
With many athletes still overseas competing in both North America and Europe, I wish everyone a great end to the season. For those who are already back in Australia and enjoying some time off before the start of our domestic winter, remember that now is the time to start your physical preparation. With only 11 weeks until the June long weekend that means you can get in TWO cycles of Snow Ready- Snow Australia’s physical training program. Give yourself the advantage this season of being stronger and fitter than the last and give yourself the opportunity to make the most of your on-snow training.
Ski Fast!
